WHAT'S YOUR SOUL NUMBER(S)?



In numerology the Soul (also referred to as the Natural Soul) refers to the basic needs, wants, desires and motivations of the individual. It does not refer to the Divine Soul which is the essence of God.

The Soul is the centerpoint of the individual, his or her core. Unlike the Expression, Lifepath and PE, it is invisible from the outside. Yet, it is extremely powerful because it is what drives the individual.

The Soul is determined by adding the vowels in the full natal (birth) name. In the King's Numerology System, the vowels are: A - E - I - O - U and Y.  In some numerological circles, "W" is considered a vowel. However, personal experience has taught this numerologist (who maintains a "W" in his middle name) that "W" is never a vowel.

In the
King's Numerology System there is also a second Soul energy called the "Material Soul" which rules the individual's desires in the material world.  More information on the Material Soul can be found in: The King's Book of Numerology, Volume 1: Foundations & Fundamentals.

To compute the Simple Natural Soul number, simply add the number values of each vowel in the name using the Basic Letter Value Chart and reduce to a single digit. We'll use our character John James Doe.

To compute John's Material Soul, simply add his Natural Soul of 5 to his Lifepath of 8. As we recall, John's birthdate is
13 March 1990, generating an 8 Lifepath.

What do John's Natural Soul of 5 and his Material Soul of 4 mean?  First, John is bound by a little problem because the numbers 4 and 5 are direct opposites. This means John is plagued with conflicting desires. The 5 indicates he loves his freedom. Yet, the 4 signals he also loves his security. The 5 gives him a desire to be unconventional. The 4, a need to be conventional. The 5 means he likes motion and movement but the 4 loves its roots. The 5 is spontaneous and adventurous; the 4, logical and practical. Unfortunately John is beset with this dilemma and it's inescapable. The solution for John is to learn to be balanced, avoid frustration and embrace the 4 and the 5 for their inherent characteristics.

Linda Leigh Smith's Natural Soul  is a 6. This gives her a deep desire to nurture, love, support. Her Simple 6 Soul, however, has the master number 33 in its root structure. This intensifies her 6, giving her a need to perform, act, sing and seek pleasure. Many great entertainers, actors, singers and writers have the 33/6 in their charts. The danger with this master number, however, is that it can crave pleasure to its own detriment, even destruction. The 33/6 has been responsible for causing addictions to drugs and sex, leading one down a road that is often, literally, a dead end. The solution is to transmute the enormous power of the 33 into pure loving expression, not lusting want, thus elevating the individual to the noble heights of love, beauty and compassion.

To find Linda's Material Soul, we simply add her 6 Soul to her 8 Lifepath. The result is a 5 Material Soul. This gives Linda a need for experience, freedom, sensuality and limitless borders. Linda loves her freedom and hates to be bound or confined. She will seek many experiences. This 5 & 6 Soul combination can create a very enriching, adventurous and diverse life for Linda because she also has a 5 PE  (see the article, "What's Your Role in Life"). Yet, her 33/6 Natural Soul can be problematic. For Linda to have a stable and productive life, she will have to learn to exercise discipline and self-control, enjoying her freedom but not being enslaved by it; appreciating her loving desires but not allowing them to carry her away beyond the limits of fidelity, responsible accountability and consequence.
